Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) is conducting the GATE 2020 Application Form for for the exam. According to the official notification, GATE 2020 will be conducted by IIT Delhi on February 1, 2, 8 and 9 across 200 cities in India and six cities abroad. The exam will be held for a total of 25 papers with Biotechnology being a new entrant this year. GATE 2020 application form is only released online. Indian Institute of Technology only allows candidates to apply for 1 subject paper, put of 25. Submitting multiple application forms is not allowed. Candidates who apply properly, get admit card of the exam.

The Registration for Application Form will be available on the official website from September 1st. The Gate Online Application Processing System(GOAPS) is used to register the candidates for appearing in the examination. Registration at this web address requires the candidate to provide a valid email address, GOAPS password, and mobile number. On successful registration, the candidate will communicate, his GOAP enrollment ID. The candidate must then use this ID and his personal GOAPS password to login at the application form portal, fill appropriate details and upload relevant documents. The image files to be readied when applying include candidate signature, candidate thumb impression, scanned images of degree certificate or marks sheet for the latest semester examination.

Eligibility 

1. Candidates must be a graduate in engineering and technology. Master's degree in any relevant science subject will also work.

2. Candidates with back (below passing mark) in any of the subjects in their qualifying examination will have to upload a copy of marksheet of the final year, issued from their institute. Internet downloaded marksheet will not be considered in this case.

3. Candidates who are expected to finish their courses , will have to upload a signed copy of certificate from the Head of Department of institute  or a copy of marksheet.

New subject added

This year a new paper of Biomedical Engineering (BM) has been added to the list of 24 exams and hence from this year onwards GATE will be conducted over 25 subjects including Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering among other subjects. A candidate is allowed to appear in only one paper in any one session.


GATE 2020 Registration (Begins): Check Application Process

GATE Application Form Correction : After the submission of the form, it goes under scrutiny where the authority will check and inform the candidates about the mistakes for the rectification. An additional fee will be applicable for changing the details in the application form.   

The following details can be edited before paying the application fee-
Details like Communication Address, Graduation Details, Date of Birth, Gender and Category.  One needs to upload a clear and acceptable image of the photograph and signature if they have not uploaded the high-quality images. The correct document defining the category status.  The rectification of selection of the wrong status of qualifying examination along with its correct document can be submitted. 

The changes that cannot be made in the submitted GATE Application Form:

  1. The E-mail Id mentioned by the candidate
  2. Contact Number is given by the candidate
  3. Paper for attending GATE 2020
As the above-mentioned details cannot be edited, in case a mistake is made, you have to apply again for GATE with a new E-mail ID and Phone Number. It must be noted that the previous application fee shall not be refunded.

GATE Application Status 

If the status of your application is “Under Scrutiny”, you need not worry. Wait till the scrutiny team processes your application. Only those candidates whose applications need to be rectified in photo/signature/supporting documents will be contacted by email and SMS. The scrutiny process will continue even after the application portal is closed.

GATE 2020 Application Form

This year, the Application Form of GATE 2020 has been released on 01-09-2019, applicants have to register and fill the application form through online portal. The complete application process consist of – Online Registration, filling the application form, uploading of documents and paying the application fee. Candidates have to upload the scanned images of photograph, signature & required degree certificates.

Last date to submit the GATE 2020 application form will be till 24th September 2019.

No need to submit the hard copy of application form to IIT Delhi or any zonal GATE offices. Candidates must make sure to go through the complete eligibility criterion and other details online. Before filling the application form, candidates must be ready with the documents like qualifying  degree certificate, category certificate, PwD certificate (if applicable) for the uploading process.

GATE Syllabus

As mentioned earlier there are 23 different papers to be held in the GATE 2020 exam. The syllabus will be different for each paper. However, the General Aptitude section will be common in all the papers. The syllabus for General Aptitude is given below, for rest of the subjects you need to study as per your qualifying exam.

Verbal Ability: Sentence completion, English grammar, Verbal analogies, instructions, word groups, verbal deduction and critical reasoning

GATE Exam Centres

Here are some major highlights of GATE Examination Centre 2020 that the aspirants should know. The candidates have to appear for the exam at the examination centre specified in the admit card. Applicants opting for Indian examination centre have to provide three preferences of the exam cities.

In addition to India, the GATE exam will also take place in six other countries as well. Candidates from all nationalities will be allowed to select the International exam centre. Please note that the applicants opting for international examination centre will get only one choice of exam city. The first and second choice of exam cities should belong to the same zone.

About GATE exam

For admissions to M.Tech and M.Sc programmes in Engineering, Technology and Architecture. GATE is a national level examination and is also used to determine the eligibility for recruitment by certain organizations like the DRDO, under the Government of India. Meanwhile, those who qualify in GATE 2020 will be admitted to various Masters programmes at IIT’s, NIT’s, GFTI’s and IISc aprt from other renowned technical institutes.
